Staying in a confinement centre is a traditional practice found in many East Asian countries. These centres offer a dedicated environment that provide a supportive and controlled setting where mothers can benefit from expert caregivers, nutritious meals, and a range of services aimed at promoting their physical and emotional well-being. Confinement centres are considered relatively new to Singapore, only increasing in popularity in the past 1-2 years.

Life update: Hi everyone! I’m Cheryl, the founder of Hatchery Cribs and I gave birth to my first child in 2024. As I planned to stay in a confinement centre after delivery, I visited 4 of the 9 confinement centres as part of my personal research, and spoke to the centre managers to understand more about their space. All opinions stated are my own, and all rates and information are correct as per the day of publication. Hope this information will be useful for all you new parents too!

Facility Type: Hatched Oasis is situated within the Orchard Parksuites. It is in the heart of Orchard Road, just minutes from major maternity hospitals and a 1-minute walk from Wisma Atria and ION Orchard. Their sanctuary offers easy access to premier shopping, dining, and medical facilities.

Room Types: They offer spacious, elegantly designed 2-bedroom suites ranging from 921 sqft to 1,039 sqft, providing ample space for families to bond in privacy and comfort. Each suite includes a fully furnished and fitted kitchen with a full-sized fridge, washer, and dryer for added convenience.

Newborn Care: Their state-of-the-art central nursery, “Cradle”, is equipped with the industry’s first AI-powered security system, featuring real-time surveillance, facial recognition, and face detection technology for enhanced protection. Parents can also monitor their baby via real-time video access on a dedicated app.

Confinement Meals: Mothers enjoy specially curated confinement meals served five times daily, along with a variety of nourishing teas, snacks, and fresh fruits.

Wellness & Activities: Daily TCM herbal baths aid recovery, while in-house postpartum massages for mothers and baby massages promote relaxation and well-being. They also provide daily in-house breastfeeding support and guidance from certified lactation consultants. There are also one-on-one personalised newborn care classes for parents.

Cheryl’s take: The suites at Momley Loft are the most spacious I have seen. Even their ‘smallest’ suite is spacious and are perfect for long term confinement stays. As it is situated in between Pasir Ris Park and Downtown East, there is a natural calm and tranquility from the greenery, and yet is near popular amenities and F&B outlets.

The place is perfect if your top priority is the spaciousness of the suites (without being at an exorbitant price), and also having a full suite of care and support for your confinement needs available 24/7.

The Place

Location: Aranda Country Club Executive Suite Level 3, 60 Pasir Ris Drive 3, Singapore 519497

Facility Type: Momley Loft occupies the third level of the Aranda Country Club Executive Suite wing, which has been specially converted into a confinement centre facility with 20 premium rooms, a dedicated baby nursery, a kitchen where TCM-based meals are prepared, and a lounge area for confinement mothers and their guests.

Mothers have their meals and postpartum massages in-room, whilst classes and activities are done in the multi-purpose studio.

Room Types:

There are 2 suite types, both are relatively large with a bedroom that is separate from the living and dining area, all suites also come with a spacious en-suite bathroom. 

• Deluxe Suites: 591 sqft
• Premier Suites: 742 sqft  

Newborn Care: There is a dedicated nursery, the ‘Stork Room’, which provides round the clock care for newborns. Their team of nurse and infant care specialists to baby ratio is 1:3, and the care team is split into 2 shifts to ensure that they get sufficient rest in between shifts. The nursery can be viewed from the outside, and mothers can also monitor their baby via a real-time video monitoring system.

The Stay

Length of Stay: 14 days, 21 days, 28 days

Price: From $13,888 for a 14 day stay in the Deluxe Suite, to $23,888 for a 28 day stay in the Premier Suite.

• Price per day (14 days stay): $992 to $1135
• Price per day (28 days stay): $746 to $853

Confinement Meals: 5 meals are served daily, freshly prepared in the on-site kitchen. Mothers also get confinement herbal soups and teas by Madam Partum, and lactation cookies as snacks. 

Wellness & Activities: Herbal baths are provided daily, and postpartum massages by Madam Partum are also included (the number of sessions provided vary according to duration of stay). There are also weekly post-natal classes by Hegen’s Lactation Centre’s International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and weekly post-partum yoga sessions. 

As Momley Loft confinement centre is situated within Aranda Country Club, the use of club facilities are also included in the stay.

Cheryl’s take: Upon arrival at KAI, I felt that I had arrived at a luxury hotel. The interior and furnishings were all immaculate and tastefully selected. The service from the concierge team to the care team was friendly and warm. I also had the privilege of tasting a confinement meal which felt nourishing and tasty, and conscientiously prepared and plated. Overall, the place is premium and very comfortable, but the rooms are on the smaller side, especially for the price point.

Facility Type: KAI Suites is a luxurious standalone confinement centre that houses 18 suites, its own kitchen, dining area, spa, lounge, and baby nursery

Room Types:

There are 3 suite types - Comfort, Deluxe, and Premium. The average suite size is 300 sqft, which is similar to a standard 5-star hotel room. None of the suites come with separate living and dining areas.

Newborn Care: KAI Suites has a dedicated nursery with 24/7 expert care from an in-house team of nurses and infant care specialists. The nursery can be viewed from the outside, and mothers can also monitor their baby via a real-time video monitoring system.

The Stay

Length of Stay: 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, 28 days

Price: From $7,800 for a 7-day stay in the Comfort Suite, to $42,000 for a 28-day stay in the Premium Suite.

• Price per day (14 days stay): $1057 to $1714
• Price per day (28 days stay): $957 to $1500

Confinement Meals: 6 meals are served daily, freshly prepared in the on-site kitchen. KAI Cuisine prides itself as being meticulously crafted by a dedicated in-house team of chefs, nutritionists, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) experts. It supports mothers in healing, recovering, regaining mental balance, and receiving nourishment.

Wellness & Activities: Herbal baths are provided daily, and in-house postpartum massages are also included (the number of sessions provided vary according to duration of stay). There are also workshops for moms that include handicraft classes and exercise sessions.

Cheryl’s take: If you do not like the idea of having different caregivers for your newborn, SingJoy will be a more suitable confinement centre for you. They do not work on a central nursery model, and instead, have 1 dedicated nanny for each mother and baby. Also, as there is no central nursery, the baby will be in your unit together with you all the time.

Compared to having a live-in confinement nanny in your own house, this has its perks as the confinement meals and housekeeping will be done by specialized teams. The SingJoy team also works closely with nannies to ensure only the best level of care provided. 

The Place

• Orchard: 1 Anderson Road, Shangrila Apartments, Singapore 259983
• Havelock: 554 Havelock Road, LK Residences, Singapore 169639

Facility Type: SingJoy has 2 locations - situated within Shangrila Apartment and LK Residences, they occupy multiple rooms at these apartments for their confinement mothers. For parents staying at Shangrila Apartments, they will have access to Shangrila Hotel’s facilities.

Room Types:

The rooms offered at Orchard and Havelock are different. For both locations, the unit comes with a separate living area and a fully fitted kitchen.

• Orchard: 2 bedroom suite, 936 sqft
• Havelock: 1 bedroom suite 410 sqft

Newborn Care: Unlike other confinement centres, SingJoy does not have a dedicated nursery. Each mother will have a dedicated confinement nanny attached to her and her baby. The nanny and baby will stay in the unit together with the mother.

The Stay

Length of Stay: 14 days, 21 days, 28 days, 42 days, 56 days

Price: From $13,200 for a 14-day stay in SingJoy Havelock (1 Bedroom), to $45,800 for a 56-day stay in SingJoy Orchard (2 Bedrooms).

• Price per day (14 days stay): $942 (Havelock) / $1128 (Orchard)
• Price per day (28 days stay): $707 (Havelock) / $850 (Orchard)

Confinement Meals: 3 meals + 1 afternoon tea + 1 herbal soup will be prepared by their on-site kitchen, with free flow of red date tea. 

Wellness & Activities: Herbal baths are provided daily, and postpartum massages are also included (the number of sessions provided vary according to duration of stay). There are also workshops for moms that include handicraft classes and exercise sessions.

Facility Type: The Clover Suites confinement centre is positioned as a boutique-hotel concept, both locations are standalone facilities that house private suites, a dining area and lounge, spa, and a baby nursery.  

Room Types: Based on images, the rooms look relatively smaller and more basic compared to the other confinement centres in Singapore.

• East Coast: 2 room types - Deluxe Room and Premium Room, both do not come with separate living and dining areas.
• Moulmein: 3 room types - Deluxe Room, Premium Room, Luxury Room. Only the Luxury Room comes with a separate living room.

Newborn Care: A dedicated nursery with 24/7 expert care from an in-house team of nurses and infant care specialists. 

The Stay

Length of Stay: 14 days, 28 days

Price: From $8,888 for a 14-day stay in Clover Suites East Coast, to $19,888 for a 28-day stay in Clover Suites Moulmein.

• Price per day (14 days stay): From $634 (East Coast) / $777 (Moulmein)
• Price per day (28 days stay): From $532 (East Coast) / $567 (Moulmein)

Confinement Meals: As there is no on-site kitchen, confinement meals are provided by an external confinement food vendor.

Wellness & Activities: Postpartum or lactation massages are also included (the number of sessions provided vary according to duration of stay).

ReJoy Suites Confinement Center is operated by a team of dedicated healthcare and postpartum care professionals, harnessing modern science with the wisdom of the Eastern practices for postpartum recovery. They are located in a newly refurbished standalone building along Braddell Road

Cheryl’s take: Staying at the My Queen confinement centre is like going on a long staycation. Being in a luxury hotel in Sentosa just hits differently, and is the closest you can get to being in a ‘holiday-mood’ whilst on confinement care. Overall, the place is perfect for recuperation, one thing to note is that it does not have many of the dedicated confinement centre facilities like an on-site kitchen, also, many facilities are shared with hotel guests and tourists.

Location: 23 Beach View Road, Oasia Hotel, Sentosa Island, Singapore 098679

Facility Type: Situated within Oasia Hotel, My Queen utilizes one wing of the hotel’s Premier and Suite rooms for their confinement mothers. Parents also have access to the hotel lounge and facilities.

Room Types:

The rooms are standard Oasia Hotel rooms with premium furnishing and linen.

• Premier: 323 sqft
• Suite: 657 sqft 

Newborn Care: There is a dedicated nursery with 24/7 expert care from an in-house team of nurses and infant care specialists. The nursery cannot be viewed from the outside as it is located in a staff-only area, but mothers can monitor their baby via a real-time video monitoring system.

The Stay

Length of Stay: 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, 28 days

Price: From $7,888 for a 7-day stay in the Premier Room, to $27,988 for a 28-day stay in the Suite.

• Price per day (14 days stay): $921 to $1213
• Price per day (28 days stay): $710 to $1000

Confinement Meals: As there is no on-site kitchen, mothers have their breakfast at Oasia Hotel’s restaurant, Bedrock Origin. Lunch and dinner confinement meals are provided by an external confinement food vendor. Tea breaks are also provided.

Wellness & Activities: Herbal baths are provided daily, and Oasia Spa postpartum massages are also included (the number of sessions provided vary according to duration of stay). As My Queen is situated within Oasia Hotel, the use of hotel facilities are also included in your stay.

The Place

Location: Capella Singapore, 1 The Knolls, Sentosa Island, Singapore 098297

Facility Type: Saint Bella Villa is located in the luxury hotel Capella Singapore on Sentosa island

Room Types: The rooms are luxurious and spacious Capella suites and manors and furnished with top of the line fittings and appliances.

• Classic: 2 bedrooms + 1 living room, 1830 sqft
• Unique: 3 bedrooms + 1 living room, 2390 sqft
• Queen A: Contemporary manor, 4209 sqft
• Queen B: Capella Manor, 5640 sqft

Newborn Care: Each suite and manor come with 24-hour nursing care services, provided by trained nurses and care specialists. Similar to SingJoy, Saint Bella Villa confinement centre does not have a specialized nursery. Each mother will have a dedicated care team attached to her and her baby. The care team and baby will stay in the suite together with the mother.

The Stay

Length of Stay: 28 days, 42 days, 56 days

Price: From $68,800 for a 28-day stay at the 2 bedroom suite to $328,800 for a 56-days stay at the Capella Manor

• Price per day (28 days stay): $2457 to $6030

Confinement Meals: Nourishing meals are curated by nutritionists and wellness experts, provided by Cassia Restaurant, and prepared by Capella Singapore’s executive chef Eric Neo. Each meal is tailored for different phases of postpartum recovery.

Wellness & Activities: Mothers get one-on-one consultations, routine breast care and postpartum care from experts. Professional perineal and caesarean section incisions management, and lactation consultation services are also provided. In addition, Saint Bella offers handicraft workshops to reduce stress and boost creativity during the confinement period.

Similar to SingJoy, NewLife Confinement Centre does not have a central nursery. Each mother will have a dedicated confinement nanny attached to her and her baby. The nanny and baby will stay in the unit together with the mother. Each room averages 900 sqft and come with balcony and kitchenette. New Life also has an in-house star chef cooking confinement meals.

NewLife Confinement Centre falls under the NewLife Confinement Services group, which also offers home confinement nanny services and confinement herbal packages.
